Speakers:
• Comfort Ocran(Combert Impressions)
• Albert Ocran (Combert Impressions)
• Estelle Sowa(BusyInternet-Moderator)

Comfort Ocran (the first speaker) laid the foundation for her talk captioned “EFFECTIVE TIME MANAGEMENT” with the following nuggets:

"I wish to preach that the highest form of success comes, not to the man who desires mere easy peace, but to the man who does not shrink from toil and hardship, and who out of these wins the splendid ultimate triumph."
         Theodore Roosevelt

"People are not lazy. They simply have goals that do not inspire them. The meeting of preparation with opportunity generates the offspring we call luck."
   Anthony Robbins

"A razor may be sharper than an axe but it cannot cut wood"
      An African Proverb

She went on to say that our times and activities must be viewed and addressed from the perspective of four important QUADRANTS on whose basis our priorities must be decided. Namely;

1. Urgent (Important)
 - Crisis
 - Pressing problems
 - Deadline-driven projects, meetings, preparation.

2. Not Urgent (Quality)
 - Preparation
 - Prevention
 - Values clarification
 - Planning
 - Relationship-building
 - True re-creation
 - Empowerment

3. Deception (Not important)
 - Interruptions, some phone calls
 - Some mails, some reports
 - Some meetings
 - Some pressing matters
 - Some popular activities

4. Waste
 - Trivia, busywork
 - Junk mail
 - Some phone calls
 - Time wasters

In explaining the quadrants and how they affect our daily activities and achievements, Comfort submitted that EFFECTIVE TIME MANAGEMENT must include the following considerations

• Connect your vision and mission on a weekly time sheet.
- What is important to you?
- What gives your life meaning?
- What do you want to be or do with your life?
- What would you do this week if you had only six months to live?

• Identify (Review) Roles
- Write your important roles
   + At Work
   + At home
   + In the community
   + In Church (faith)
- A clear set of roles enable us balance our lives.
- Maximum 7 roles
- Roles are part of an integrated whole

• Identify Goals
• Select Quadrant II goals in each role
• Select the Most important thing in each role this week

• Create A Weekly Plan
- Schedule your priorities
- Put in the big rocks (Quadrant II) goals
- Make specific appointments

• Evaluate yourself at the end of every week
- Did I achieve any goals?
- What challenges prevented or deterred me?
- Did I make any decisions?
- How effective were my decisions?

• Take the following ACTION
- Resolve to minimize and eliminate the time wasters in your life
- Don't be a slave to a phone. Plan phone calls
- Plan every meeting before you hold it
- Concentrate on the important tasks
- Finish meetings with an action list - who, what, when, outcome
- Be productive during work hours. Avoid idle socializing

She concluded her talk by quoting Anthony Robbins thus "There's always a way if you are committed"

In his talk titled “MASSIVE ACTION FOR MAXIMUM ACHIEVEMENT IN 2008”
Albert Ocran who started by referring to Thomas Henry Huxley statement that "The great end of life is not knowledge but ACTION" said that

No matter how inspirational your dreams are; no matter how clear your vision, no matter how specialized your knowledge and how detailed or powerful your pans are... they will all remain unrealized without FIRM DECISION ACTION. The only way to get a different result this year is to DO SOMETHING YOU HAVE NEVER DONE BEFORE.

He said that there are 7 Ingredients of Success; namely,
1. Peace of Mind
2. Health and Energy
3. Loving Relationship
4. Financial Freedom
5. worthy Goals and Ideas
6. Self Knowledge and Self Awareness
7. Personal Fulfillment

He gave the following as some the reasons WHY SOME DREAMS NEVER MATERIALISE
- Despising the Ore
- Inertia (Laziness)
- Procrastination (Fear & Indecisiveness)
- Free Show
- Premature Exposure - mockers, hijackers, faster runners

He also outlined the following as the 7 main ATTRIBUTES OF ACHIEVERS
1. Strategy
2. Relationship
3. Communication
4. Values
5. Passion (Energy)
6. Belief

- Make that decision
- Back it with immediate action
- Refuse to be stopped. (no discouragement, no complacency)
- Add value to yourself everyday
- Seize your opportunities

Quoting Ted Roosevelt, Albert concluded by saying I choose not to be a common man... I want to take the calculated risk, to dream and to build, to fail and to succeed. I'll prefer the challenges of life to the guaranteed existence...
