03 March 2008

The members of GINKS have recommended that GINKS should educate participants in every workshop on the mandate and objectives of GINKS. This advice was given at the review of the draft report on the evaluation of GINKS network held at the CSIR auditorium

The meeting which involved 20 GINKS members (drawn from both individuals and organisations of the GINKS Network) including the representative of the Internatioal Institute for Communication and Development(IICD), Martine Koopman and Margaret Kyiu of Development Alternative Services Foundation, while evaluating the report observed that most people that participate in the GINKS workshops and trainings come with the erroneous expectation that they are going to get certain incentives aside the information and knowledge that they receive. These they concluded must be the chief reason why participants do not convert the information that they acquire to tools that can help them achieve progress in their works.

They also recommended that activities that will ensure greater participation of women should be seriously considered and embarked upon.

The mandate of GINKS includes:
-To provide information and Knowledge that will facilitate capacity building for ICTs products and services.
-To create, identify synthesize and disseminate information and knowledge on ICTs and development.
-To promote the use of ICTs throughout the country
